At Canyon Rim Elementary, we believe that student success is a shared responsibility. That commitment and our culture of high expectations have helped our Cougars achieve rapid academic growth. As a result, Canyon Rim Elementary was one of 30 schools across the country to be recognized as a National Model School at the 2026 Model Schools Conference in Orlando, Florida.

This summer, our administrators and teachers were invited to present to more than 5,000 educators from around the world. Our presentation, The Power of “OUR Kids”: How Culture, Systems & Leadership Can Transform A School, focused on the culture and philosophy that guides our campus every day.

"OUR Kids" is a mindset where our entire staff takes collective responsibility for the growth and well-being of every student across our campus. By working together, building strong relationships, and setting clear, positive expectations for behavior, we have maintained an A-rating for eight consecutive years and have reduced discipline referrals by 83% in a single year.

"Being selected as a Model School means everything to us," said Principal Joe Lopat. "It is a distinct validation of the hard work our teachers and staff put in every day, and a direct result of the amazing growth our students demonstrate on a daily basis.”

We are incredibly proud of our students, staff, and families for their hard work and partnership in making Canyon Rim a wonderful place to learn. Schedule a tour of Canyon Rim to see how OUR Kids can help your students succeed at CanyonRim.GilbertSchools.net/Tour.
