VIK means Very Important Kids. At Canyon Rim we offer before and after school programs for our students.
Canyon Rim offers three different GPS preschool programs located on our campus. Canyon Rim has Advantage Preschool, Building Blocks Preschool, and Kindergarten Prep.
We offer Oceanography Club for 5th Graders, STUCO Club for 4th-6th Graders, Yearbook Club for 5th & 6th Graders, Recorder Club, Running Club for 2nd-6th Graders, and Junior Choir for 1st-3rd Graders and Senior Choir for 4th-6th Graders.
Canyon Rim offers both Traditional and Conventional classrooms from Kindergarten through 6th Grade. In a Traditional classroom desks all face the front of the room, and the Traditional curriculum is delivered primarily through whole-group instruction.

Gilbert Public Schools is looking for enthusiastic job seekers to join our GPS Family! Join GPS for a Job Fair on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Highland High School located at 4301 East Guadalupe Road.
On January 14, 2025, GPS will welcome all employees who have worked in the district for 25 years to a celebratory breakfast hosted by Superintendent Dr. Shane McCord. These individuals, spanning diverse roles within the district, exemplify the heart and soul of GPS. These are just some of their incredible stories.
At the start of the school year, five teachers new to Gilbert Public Schools shared their experience as new GPS employees. With the first semester coming to an end, we check in on these five teachers for Part II of Keeping Up with the Classroom.
Many GPS elementary schools hosted Turkey Trots this year, including Sonoma Ranch Elementary School which hosted its third annual event to bring students and parents together for a day of fun and fitness. These events encouraged physical activity and provided a glimpse into the district's growing running programs.
The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) has released the 2023-24 School Letter Grades. For the 2023-24 school year Gilbert Public Schools has achieved an ‘A’ letter grade for our school district. Further, all GPS schools have achieved either an ‘A’ or ‘B’ letter grade, rating them as excellent or highly performing by the Arizona Department of Education.
Technology Integration Educators (TIEs) play an important role in ensuring students receive an engaging educational experience that develops critical thinking, problem-solving, and technology skills which will serve them well throughout their academic journey and beyond.
Congratulations to Superstition Springs student Ruby, whose speech at the Rosie the Riveter National Gala was a success! There were about 350 people in attendance. You may recognize Ruby as one of the winners of last year’s Gilbert Public Schools Oratorical Contest.
