Important AzMERIT testing information for GPS studentsDear Parents and Guardians:

We are quickly approaching the time when all of our students in grades 3-6 will be taking the state mandated AzMERIT test.  We have been preparing our children from the first day of school by providing them a quality education and a true commitment to learning.

The testing dates are as follows:

April 9- April 10 - March 31 - Grades 3-6 Writing
April 17 – 4th Grade AIMS Science
April 19 - April 24 Grades 3-6 Reading and Math

Please mark your calendars and make sure your child(ren) are in school every day during testing week. We are required to test 100% of our students by state law. Please plan appointments in weeks OTHER THAN those that we are testing. If students are taken out of school during a test they cannot make it up.

This year we will be participating in computer-based tests for reading, writing and math.  Students will be using Chromebooks to complete their work.

Please help your child do their best by:
Making sure your student is here every single day. Consistent attendance is the surest way to insure their success. Please check your calendar and try to avoid scheduling appointments during testing week.

Making sure your student is on time. On test days, punctuality is very important. Being late will cause undue stress for children when they should be calm and ready to focus and do their best.

Making sure your student has a good night’s rest and they eat a nutritious breakfast.

Your child’s success is a reflection of good parenting and good teaching. Thank you for your support.

Please remember the Move on When Reading law is in effect for our third graders. They must pass the AzMERIT reading test at or above the "partially proficient" range in order to be promoted to fourth grade.
